Job Summary: The Reconciliation Finance Officer will ensure the various bank’s suspense and nostro accounts are reconciled correctly and timely, in line with the Bank’s policies and procedures. The role seeks to align reconciliation operations to the overall bank’s business strategy in line with existing and new products, services, and technologies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of Daily, weekly, and monthly suspense and Nostro accounts reconciliation and report to Reconciliation Manager Finance.
- Maintain a daily dashboard of all transactions deemed long outstanding about the set Bank reconciliation guidelines.
- Timely reporting of all transactions detected/monitored to be irregular.
- Highlight all long outstanding transactions to detect irregularities.
- Provide feedback to the Finance department on how to improve internal controls, and pinpoint areas where risks relating to banking transactions can be minimized.
- Ensure loans and advances, deposits, Money market products, contingent assets and liabilities, and government securities listings tally to the General Ledger (GL) daily.
- Follows up on all transactions continuously and provides updates to the Reconciliation Finance Manager.
- Adhere to corporate standards and procedures in all reconciliation activities.
- Improve personal skill set regarding software proficiency, financial analysis, and data processing.
- File all prepared reconciliation reports in a well-organized manner.
- Assist auditors both internal and external with reconciliation documentation required for the auditors to do their job satisfactorily.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned to you from time to time to meet the needs of the organization.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.
- Possession of professional qualifications such as CPA or ACCA is a must.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in the Banking industry performing reconciliations/very related assignments.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines. Demonstrate the required skill to perform detailed work accurately and promptly too.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Flexibility to react effectively to unforeseen circumstances.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment to drive results.
- Knowledge of banking transaction processes relevant to products and services offered to customers.
- An extensive knowledge and understanding of control and risk management.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Practical knowledge of how to input, access, and analyze huge sums of data.
