Job Summary: Norvik Group is looking for a candidate for the Radiographer position. The successful candidate will be expected to use radiographic equipment to do x-rays and other procedures, analysing and reporting on the results to doctors and ensuring that emergency procedures are performed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clinical environment: The post holder is expected to be involved in General radiography to include Accident and Emergency, GP, Out-patients, In-patients, Dental, Fluoroscopy, Mobile and Theatre radiography. The post holder will rotate through CT
- Rota commitment: The post holder will participate in the out of hours shift rota which will also include On Call if required by the service
- Staff responsibility: Direct and supervise the workload of Imaging Assistants, Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, and Porters. To direct the theoretical and practical components of student training in the clinical setting to ensure that a high level of patient care is provided at all times. All newly qualified practitioners will complete the radiographer practitioner training program and be expected to partake in and complete the flying start program.
- Preparing examination rooms for patient examinations.
- Positioning patients and equipment, explaining the procedures, and ensuring patients’ comfort.
- Performing diagnostic imaging to obtain clear, usable images.
- Inserting commands and data into the computer to document and specify the scan sequences, and monitoring the video display to adjust the density or contrast.
- Monitoring patients during examinations, ensuring their safety, and following procedures to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation.
- Producing diagnostic images, reporting important information to the Physician, and updating patients’ records.
- Organizing the daily procedure schedules for emergencies and monitoring radiographic supplies.
- Performing administrative tasks, such as answering technical questions, scheduling appointments, and offering pre-procedure advice.
- Performing scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs on radiographic equipment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology and a license to practice Radiography.
- Two to three years of work experience as a radiographer
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, and compassion.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and medicine.
- Outstanding thinking and reasoning skills, Proficiency in the use of computers and the most popular software packages
- Ability to work independently, but also as a part of a healthcare team
- Sensitivity and understanding towards patients during procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform well under pressure
- Physical strength to assist with the lifting or moving of patients to ensure their positioning is correct for the specific procedure
