Job Summary: Quality Plastics Uganda Limited is seeking experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead the Quality Assurance department. The QA Manager will oversee the responsibilities of the quality assurance department and staff, developing, implementing and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the company’s products. This is a full-time role, on-site position located in Mukono.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Quality Management Systems (QMS): Ensure compliance with ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and FSSC (Food Safety System Certification) standards by developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality management systems across all three factories.
- Quality Control: Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes and procedures to ensure the production of high-quality plastic flexible packaging material, PET preforms, closures, and blow bottles in accordance with ISO and FSSC standards.
- Product Testing and Analysis: Coordinate product testing activities, including sampling, testing, and analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products using appropriate testing methods and equipment to verify compliance with specifications and standards.
- Quality Audits: Conduct regular internal audits to assess the effectiveness of product quality, identify areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with ISO and FSSC standards and regulations.
- Documentation Management: Maintain accurate documentation of quality control activities, including test results, inspection reports, certification documents, and records of corrective and preventive actions taken to address quality issues.
- Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality management systems, ISO and FSSC standards, product specifications, and quality control procedures to enhance awareness and ensure compliance.
- Customer Satisfaction: Monitor customer feedback and satisfaction related to product quality, addressing any concerns or complaints promptly and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, increasing process efficiency, and reducing waste and defects while maintaining compliance with ISO and FSSC standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices related to quality assurance and food safety, ensuring ongoing compliance and proactively addressing any changes or updates.
- Staff Management & Motivation: Develop, manage, train and ensure staff is motivated to optimize productivity and performance.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business/ Science/ Engineering or field related to the role.
- At least five years of experience in related field required with managerial experience is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
