About US:

The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production Act 2013, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda which was approved in 2008. The PAU’s mandate is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.

 

Job Summary: The role of the Petrophysicist is to participate in well data acquisition, interpretation, and formation evaluation for fields with production licenses to ensure that the petroleum resources are well estimated and that the development strategy optimizes recovery and maximizes production.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the estimation and review of petroleum resource volumes and reserves of the fields with production licenses
  • Participate in the review of field development plans and petroleum reservoir reports and the attendant petrophysical models submitted by licensees for fields with production licenses.
  • Participate in the review of reservoir management proposals and proposed methods to improve oil recovery submitted by licensees for fields with production licenses.
  • Participate in the petrophysical evaluation of wireline and other petrophysical data during development and production drilling, completion, testing, and work-over programs.
  • Participate in the evaluation of petrophysical data from laboratory analyses.
  • Review work programs and budgets related to subsurface submitted by licensees with production licenses and follow up their implementation
  • Monitor field activities during the development and production phase
  • Participate in technical petrophysical research related to activities in the development and production phase.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience
  • Innovative and a proven high level of integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant industry computer packages and software
