About US:

The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production Act 2013, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda which was approved in 2008. The PAU’s mandate is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.

 

Job Summary: The role of the Reservoir Engineer is to undertake reservoir engineering-related activities, including reserves estimation and production forecasting for fields with production licenses, to ensure that the fields are economically developed in a manner that optimizes recovery and maximizes production.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the estimation and review of petroleum reserves and production profiles, including production strategies of the fields with production licenses.
  • Participate in the review of field development plans and petroleum reservoir reports with the attendant dynamic models submitted by licensees for fields with production licenses.
  • Undertake the review of reservoir management proposals and proposed methods to improve oil recovery submitted by licensees for fields with production licenses.
  • Participate in the dynamic and other reservoir engineering data acquisition, quality checking, analysis, and synthesis activities for fields with production licenses.
  • Review work programs and budgets related to reservoir engineering activities submitted by licensees with production licenses and follow up their implementation.
  • Monitor field activities during the development and production phase.
  • Participate in technical reservoir engineering research related to activities in development and production phase.
  • Undertake any other assignments as may be directed from time to time.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An Honors Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Innovative and with proven high level of integrity
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze process diagrams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in using relevant process simulation software.
  • Excellent analytical/critical thinking skills
  • Proven record of outstanding performance.
