About US:
PACHEDO FOUNDATION is a development organization duly registered as NGO with Uganda NGO bureau and has been working in Uganda since 2007. PACHEDO is operational in the Districts of Acholi, Lango and West Nile sub-regions implementing programs in four main sectors of Health/Nutrition, Protection; Food Security and Livelihoods; and climate change/Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala Capital City.
About NILE Project:
Through one of her donors- JICA- Japan International Cooperation Agency and NAM -Network for Action against Malnutrition, PACHEDO Foundation already received funding for a 36 months’ Nutrition Improvement & Livelihood Empowerment – (NILE) Project to be implemented in Adjumani refugee settlements (Ayilo I & II) and surrounding sub-counties of Dzaipi and Pakele in Adjumani district west Nile sub-region. PACHEDO is therefore actively seeking to recruit dynamic, highly motivated, Qualified and Competent persons to fill the positions indicated below for the NILE Project.
Job Summary: The Project Coordinator should be a self-driven team player and will be responsible for a successful implementation of the NILE project activities within the existing staffing structure of PACHEDO/NAM consortium operation in Adjumani and as per JICA requirement through day to day coordination and management of the financial and human resources.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Taking lead in project planning and provision of strategic direction in finance, logistics and human resource management. Prepares and reviews project activity implementation work plans and budgets that guide implementation.
- Maintain regular and close communication with NAM project manager/assistant to ensure quality implementation of planned activities according to the results framework and operation plan.
- Support staff recruitment, orientation and training of new program staff, modeling leadership to all staff under regular supervision of field and ensures that they conceptualize the project interventions and its’ approaches.
- Provide training and technical assistance to the project team, promoters, Care groups, and exhaustively monitor project implementation including mobilizing and sensitizing communities and stakeholders, forming participants’ groups, designing and conducting training of project participants in Essential Nutrition Actions, Essential Hygiene, Health Systems strengthening, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (ASRHR).
- Support and coordinates project and periodic surveys and assessments to determine training needs, to ensure successful implementation of the project according to project design document and result framework.
- Organizes and attends to the different relevant coordination meetings for the project on behalf of PACHEDO/MAM consortium for NILE project e.g. health and nutrition technical working groups, livelihoods etc.
- With support of project officers and M&E, organizes project review meetings with community structures including local leaders, government officials and service providers for sharing and learning and documentation of lessons, good practices and success of the project.
- Ensuring internal and external reporting and requirements are on time and accurate. Compiling monthly and quarterly reports from all project staff to make quarterly project reports and timely submit to H&N PO and ED for submission to NAM.
- Advocates and lobby’s’ for support from other stakeholders including government for successful implementation of the project.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Programme Officer-Health and Nutrition, the NILE project manager/assistant (NAM – partner institutions) and senior management of the organisation including; resource mobilization-fundraising, response to the donor requirements, grants development, strategy development, representation of the organisation in meeting its’ development goals and policies
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The MCHN Project coordinator will be hired and the desired persons will be holders of master’s degree in Public Health/Nutrition with a degree in nutrition from any recognized university or institution.
- A post graduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage.
- Typically, 5+ years of proven experience in program management of similar projects with international humanitarian organizations, compliance, and financial management in related job.
- Demonstrated understanding of the links between health/nutrition, agriculture/livelihood, community development, social and gender issues.
- Experience in known Nutrition models such as Care Group Model, PD-Hearth among others are of added advantage.
- Proficiency in computer packages such as Microsoft word, Excel, power point etc are of added advantage
- Excellent language skills in English (writing, speaking and reading) and in local languages.
