Client Brief:
Our client is a Ugandan manufacturer of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products located in Kampala. Their vision is to provide high-quality products manufactured in Uganda, at affordable prices, readily available on the local market.
Job Summary: Our client is looking for a marketing executive to undertake marketing projects for the benefit of their company. The person will organize creative campaigns and promotional events that can make a difference for the company’s success according to the trends and customer requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create awareness of and develop the brand.
- Communicate with target audiences, build and develop customer relationships.
- Help with marketing plans, advertising, direct marketing, and campaigns.
- Source for advertising opportunities and place adverts in the press or radio.
- Work closely with in-house or external creative agencies to design marketing materials such as brochures and adverts.
- Write and proofread marketing copy for both online and print campaigns.
- Produce creative content, including videos and blog posts.
- Run social media channels.
- Organize and attend events such as conferences, seminars, receptions, and exhibitions.
- Source and secure sponsorships.
- Liaise with designers and printers and organize photo shoots.
- Arrange the effective distribution of marketing materials.
- Maintain and update customer databases.
- Conduct market research, for example using customer questionnaires and focus groups.
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy (often as part of a wider sales and marketing programme)
- Evaluate and review marketing campaigns, advertising, and SEO to make sure the correct mediums are being used and campaigns are effective.
- Track marketing performance and return on investment and prepare weekly or monthly reports for management.
- Monitor and report on competitor activity.
- Lead external agencies, when appropriate, to effectively manage events, press relationships, editorial requests, presentations, promotional materials, and online activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, or any related field & FMCG cosmetics industries background (mandatory)
- Four to five years of experience in trade marketing, operations, and marketing representative, at least Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing.
- Experience in marketing knowledge and product advertising, business, or management communications, IT or computer science and psychology.
- Proven experience as marketing executive or similar role.
- Good understanding of market research techniques, data analysis and statistics methods.
- IT, social media, and numeracy skills Knowledge of both traditional and digital marketing channels such as search and PPC.
- Thorough knowledge of strategic planning principles and marketing best practices.
- Proficient in MS Office and marketing software (e.g., CRM).
- Familiarity with social media and web analytics (e.g., Web Trends).
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Creativity and commercial awareness, the ability to think outside the box.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Commercial awareness and business acumen.
- An eye for detail, paying close attention to writing, editing, and designing to ensure the highest quality of work is delivered.
- Analytical and strategic thinking.
- Drive and self-motivation.
- The ability to work well under pressure.
