Job Summary: AWE is now seeking for an experienced Environmentalist to join our team of already established specialists. The Successful candidate MUST have relevant experience and recognized expertise spanning for a period of at least 6 years in consultancy
works.
As an Environmentalist, you will participate in projects and other relevant company work with more involvement in Environment and Socio-economic Impact Assessments (ESIAS), Environmental Audits, OHS audits, air pollution control, waste management, hazardous-waste management, environmental regulations and policy formulations and reviews, environmental and social safeguards supervision, stakeholder engagement and community mobilizations and Construction supervision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be part of a team of specialists and mentor junior staff.
- Contributing to business growth strategies and initiatives,
- Actively contribute to the consolidation of AWE’s environmental and social expertise,
- Manage projects and resources, completing assignments within agreed time-scales and budgets.
- Design ESIA studies and formulate study tools for the same.
- Participate in business development through compilation of both technical and financial proposals during the bidding process.
- Conducting environmental impact assessments, audits and associated stakeholder engagements.
- Participate in assessing compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
- You will work with environmental planners, engineers, hazardous waste engineers, scientists, and other specialists.
- Involvement in environmental monitoring assignments.
- Timely compilation and/ or review of reports as per the specific consulting assignment requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must be holding at least a second-class upper Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering/Environmental Science and management from a reputable University. A master’s degree in a related field and NEMA registration are an added advantage.
- Knowledge and good understanding of ISO document and Management Systems.
- Ability to analyse and interpret work related documents.
- Have knowledge and a clear understanding of the environmental science and engineering field.
- Logical thinking and reasoning ability.
- Have excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
- Good planning and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, with both verbal and written communication skills.
- Be a good listener and present a high degree of maturity at all times.
- Be willing and ready to learn from the team.
- Understand the impacts which will affect both present and future decisions.
- Be a team player and leader in a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary setting.
