Job Summary: The Accountant will collect, analyse, record and report the financial data ensuring that complies with rules and regulations of CESVI accounting policies and procedures
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Office management
- Ensure the proper office management and organization of the Kampala office
- Maintaining proper stock sheets for office consumables and ensure their security
- Checking CESVI’s general mail on a daily basis and managing incoming and outgoing mails
Human Resource Management
- Support in the renewal of work permit/visas/insurance for the staff
- Support HR team in checking contract renewal, preparation of payroll and payslips, payment of taxes
Administrative management
- Prepare payment vouchers, cheques EFT requests
- Make copies of all signed cheques
- Ensure all monthly bank statements are received by the CESVI administration office;
- Ensure timely and safe cashing of cheques
- Verifying supporting documents from the field
- Filling and Photocopying all the accountability documents
- Preparation of monthly accountability, updating Prime Entry for each on-going project and share with line manager/HQ
- Verify cash availability for each on-going project and link with line manager/HQ in case of need of funds
- Draft of donor’s reports and share with line manager/HQ
- Preparation of Audits
- Support the line manager/HQ to ensure the compliance with any national regulations
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A University Degree in quantitative disciplines (Preferably Economics, Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting , Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or Finance or Taxation or statistics)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting in NGO operations
- Computer proficiency, including use of MS Excel, Word, and statistics packages
- Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and mentoring skills
- Excellent writing, oral and organizational skills
