Nascent Research and Development Organization Uganda (NRDO-U) is a non-governmental organization working in the East African Region to promote social change. NRDO-U has existed since 2008. In Uganda, it has her operations in Karamoja region (Moroto, Nakapiripirit, Amudat), eastern region (Mbale, Sironko, Bulambuli, Iganga), central Uganda (Buikwe, Kampala) and Western region (Kikuube and Kabarole).

 

Job Summary:   The Community Facilitator, Early Childhood Development will manage the day to day running of the Play Hub. The incumbent will be tasked with planning, co-ordination, monitoring, and implementation of Early Child Activities within the play hub and the community. The jobholder will also facilitate parents / caregivers on the early stimulation activities) parents / caregivers on the early stimulation activities)

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Getting to know and building strong relationships with beneficiary households
  • Providing advice about child development and play
  • Assessing needs and at-risk situations.
  • Linking care givers and households to professional services
  • Daily administration concerning borrowing and returning toys.
  • Support the conducting of home visits on play and development
  • Take charge of ECEC play hubs in the community.
  • Conduct awareness campaigns in parents to support children take right path in growing up.
  • Arrange the Setup of parent support groups for mothers and fathers
  • Provide basic literacy to all children that report to the play hub.
  • Identify and promote unique talents in children.
  • Encourage and promote creativity in the centers through ARTS like music and Art.
  • Ensuring safety of the children while they play their games.
  • Make and submit reports about the progress of the play hub.
  • Identify, address, support the referral of health and child abuse cases





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Certificate in Early childhood development education or its equivalent
  • Must be resident and living within the community
  • One year of experience in conducting similar roles and responsibilities.
  • Effective Communication skill.
  • Ability to speak and interpret English
  • Attention to details
  • Ability to learn and train others
  • Managerial and Leadership skills
  • Ability to use a computer and basic Microsoft and Excel computer applications
  • Confident and ability to facilitate and provide training
  • Ability to speak the local language is an advantage
