Job Title:     Supervisor – Freight & Logistics

Job Summary:  The Supervisor – Freight and Logistics will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of their company’s logistics activities. The Supervisor will often be tasked with developing new processes or procedures to improve efficiency, quality, or cost effectiveness.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compliance to the Supply Chain management Toolkit, Policies and Procedures.
  • Meeting KPI performance criteria.
  • Implementation of management changes and decisions.
  • Control and file all freight documentation on all import and export shipments.
  • Coordinate freight and forwarder shipments to ensure on time delivery and express clearance through customs.
  • Prepares tax payment documentation for tax payment releases to URA in time.
  • Validation of clearing and tax documentation for correctness.
  • Control and validate related customs and excise duties payable.
  • Track and monitor status of import/export shipments due at port of entry.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of costing variances.
  • Assist with processing and follow up on claims.
  • Ensure all imports are cleared efficiently.
  • Providing management with monthly reports on the status mode and costs of imports.
  • Ensure compliance to terminology and aspects related to import of goods.
  • Provide required documentation to statutory bodies like URA, UBOS, BOU
  • Coordinate local transportation to and from MTN premises.
  • Validation of clearing invoices for payment.
  • Purchase order tracking to ensure delivery within the set timelines.
  • Tax planning: Notifying URA of complete items to be delivered in partial shipments.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the MTN Uganda job must hold a university degree is required in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain Management.
  • Customs, Clearing and Forwarding, International Logistics and Transport.
  • Knowledge of all terminology and aspects related to importing and exporting of goods.
  • Knowledge of basic costing and reconciliations.
