About US:
Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute (UWRTI) is a semi-autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, established by Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute Act, 2016. The Institute is mandated to: “Undertake research and training services for sustainable conservation and management of Uganda’s wildlife resources.’’
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carries out financial planning, prepares and controls the Institute budgets.
- Oversees the management of the Institute incomes and expenditures.
- Supports the development of resources mobilization strategies of the institute.
- Maintains a sound financial accounting system, record keeping and internal controls for the Institute.
- Advises the Institute Council and Institute Senior Management on sound financial management policies, rules and procedures.
- Manages the reconciliation of books of accounts and the production and presentation of the Institute final accounts and bank statements to the relevant authorities.
- Advises the Institute Director in answering audit queries and mandatory inquiries whenever necessary.
- Plans, supervises and evaluates the performance of staff in the section.
- Enforces adherence to financial policies, regulations and professional practices in all financial and accounting transactions in line with Public Finance and Management Act, 2015.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Honours Bachelor degree in Finance and Accounting OR Bachelor’s Degree with a bias in accounting plus professional qualification in Accountancy obtained from a recognized awarding body and a Post Graduate Diploma in a Business-related discipline.
- Professional qualification in Accountancy of at least first level obtained from a recognized awarding Institution accredited by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) plus a Master’s degree in a related field (non 1st degree holders).
- Experience of not less than three (3) years of working experience.
- Be a citizen of Uganda with a valid national identity card.
