About US:
Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: The net deployment supervisor is responsible for ensuring that net deployment, exchange, and inspection are done on time and in line with production plans and ensures that nets are well taken care of.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deployment, exchange, and inspection of nets.
- Ensure you and your team adhere to all Health and Safety Policies
- Nets are to always be handled with care
- Nets are set on time and on Schedule for fish stocking and transfers
- Ensure nets are removed from cages timely after harvests
- Quality: each net set has to be tied correctly and securely
- Do safe net exchanges: changing a net out on a cage which already has fish
- Help Planning annual leave within your team so that work can always continue
- Ensuring that the workspace is always neat and tidy.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a diploma in fisheries or aquaculture.
- Two years’ experience in cage farming.
- Must understand that this is a job that you are working on water most of the time.
- Must be able to swim
- Should be physically fit
- Hardworking, capable of being involved in farming operations
- Good interpersonal skills
- Action and detail oriented.
- Must be confident to give out instructions and lead a team
- Must show good endurance and persistence.
- Must have an eye for detail
- Must be willing to constantly learn more and develop their knowledge and skills
