About US:
The Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority manages retirement plans for Uganda’s public workforce by serving as the fiduciary stewards of the contributions and disbursements of the pension trust funds. In partnership with the state’s public employers, we help ensure that they can offer their employees a comprehensive retirement plan that is responsive to their needs and is equitable to all stakeholders. URBRA’s primary mandates include;
- Regulate the establishment, management and operation of retirement benefits schemes in Uganda in both private and public sector
- Supervise institutions which provide retirement benefits products and services
- Protect the interest of member and beneficiaries of retirement benefits schemes
- Promote the development of the retirement benefits sector
- Provide for licensing for custodians, trustees, administration and fund managers of retirement benefits schemes, the appointment of inspectors and interim administrators.
Job Summary: The Internal Auditor will review, evaluate, and contribute to the improved effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes and perform audit assignments in accordance with the Internal Audit Charter.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the Implementation of the annual audit plan.
- Conduct operation, financial, and compliance audits and follow up on the recommendations and actions resulting from internal and external audit engagements conducted and completed.
- Advise the Senior Internal Audit on internal controls, risk management, and governance issues and provide best practices in these.
- Review URBRA’s operations for compliance to policies and guidelines established by the Board and other regulatory and statutory bodies.
- Carry out periodic evaluation and effectiveness of risk management controls and governance processes, as well as the reliability of financial information.
- Review URBRA’s operations for weaknesses in risk policies and guidelines established by the Board and other regulatory and statutory bodies.
- Draft an Internal Audit and support risk management project that ensures a review of all business processes for proper governance and effective risk management.
- Assist in the preparation of audit reports.
- Carry out any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Honors Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field or full professional qualifications in Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK.
- An Honors Bachelors degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field PLUS full professional membership of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK, and in good standing.
- At least two years of experience working in auditing in public sector.
