Job Summary:   We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Financial Accountant to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in accounting principles, Taxation and financial reporting. The financial Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations and supporting strategic financial decision-making.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the FC in managing the finance department.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in managing relationships with key stakeholders (Banks, URA, Lawyers and other key institutions).
  • Assist management in the formulation of its overall financial direction.
  • Ensure that all bank reconciliations are properly done and promptly.
  • Monthly review of Supplier and Customer balances.
  • Coordinating Monthly stock takes.
  • Ensure that intercompany balances are reconciled and confirmed on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that all transactions are timely recorded, classified and reported in compliance with international financial reporting standard. (IFRS)
  • Ensure that VAT returns are prepared and payments are made on time.
  • Prepare Vat reconciliations prior to submission of return.
  • Ensure that PAYE, WHT, NSSF are filed timely as per Uganda tax laws.
  • Timely preparation of financial reports.
  • Participate in preparation of annual budgets.
  • Participate in preparation of audit files for audit purposes.
  • Perform banking duties as a third-party agent including deposits, withdrawals and related tasks.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the head of department





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance from a recognised university.
  • Professional accounting qualification either ACCA or CPA.
  • Knowledge of Sage 300 is an added advantage.
  • Experience in the accounting field (Minimum 5 years).
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Uganda taxation laws.
  • Attention to detail and high level of integrity.
  • Organized and self-driven.
  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a Ugandan.
