About US:
Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute (UWRTI) is a semi-autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, established by Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute Act, 2016. The Institute is mandated to: “Undertake research and training services for sustainable conservation and management of Uganda’s wildlife resources.’’
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deputizes the Director
- Coordinates teaching and training programs of the Institute.
- Plans and coordinates development and review of the curriculum
- Coordinates capacity building programmes for the teaching staff.
- Oversees compliance of instructors’ code of conduct at the Institute.
- Coordinates quality assurance and control protocols in institute training programs.
- Leads the development of plans, budgets and reports for the training function of the institute.
- Supervises and appraises staff.
- Any other duties assigned by the Director.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The person eligible for appointment should possess the following attributes
- An Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife Health and Management or related fields from recognized institutions.
- Master of Science in the above-mentioned fields from recognized Institution.
- Post graduate training in human resources management or public administration or business administration or any other related field.
- Be at least of the rank of Principal/Senior Officer level or its equivalent at the time of application;
- Six (6) years of Managerial ability in Higher Education or Research Institution with at least track record of having served as Head of academic Department or Research Project Manager;
- Teaching experience of at least twelve (12) years in any of the disciplines being offered in the Institute;
- Be a citizen of Uganda with a valid national identity card
- Age limit: Not above 55 years.
