Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe.
Job Summary: The data analyst will be responsible for organizing, managing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data related to Global Health Security (GHS), Research, and other programs within Baylor-Uganda. S/he should utilize technical expertise to ensure data is accurate and high-quality. S/he will provide advanced data analytics, statistical inference, and data visualization in a way that assists program and research staff in making better decisions for program development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data security and governance – Work with management and researchers to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data security and governance strategies in line with international and national laws, policies, and guidelines.
- Data Management – Develop and maintain databases and data systems that ensure the capture, maintenance, and access to quality and clean data formats ready for statistical analysis.
- Data Extraction – Use automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources for clinicians and researchers to facilitate learning, program development, and adaptions.
- Data Analysis – Use statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in simple and complex data sets that could be helpful for diagnosis, management, and outcomes prediction.
- Data analytics capacity building – Support in-house data analytics trainings and skills development for Baylor-Uganda and partners’ staff using appropriate statistical software, such as Stata, R software, and others.
- Scientific writing – Support development and writing of scientific presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts to be submitted to peer-reviewed journals for publication.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or Mathematics
- Hands-on experience with R, SQL, STATA, SPSS, EpiData, and PowerBI
- Experience in longitudinal or survival data analysis to support analysis of data from cohorts.
- Experience in handling missing data in clinical research databases
- Five years of related work experience
