Job Summary: CERFODES is looking for an analytical, results-oriented and self-driven individual with extensive knowledge and training in climate change issues to fill the position of Associate – Research & Development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation, supervision and review of concept notes, pre-qualification documents, expression of interest documents and proposals.
- Track and follow up to ensure that all submissions are made ahead of time.
- Attend pre-bid meetings/conferences.
- Attend bid opening sessions.
- Execution of all client assignments/projects assigned to by the supervisor: The tasks may include but not limited to the following:
- Conduct research/review and data collection activities related to climate related Issues.
- Develop and maintain analytic models and analysis tools of mitigation policies and climate change impacts for scientific inquiry and decision research, and to support and provide insights into climate change and sustainability-related research.
- Contribute to climate policy research, advisory, modelling, and analysis.
- Conduct research using primary/secondary/tertiary sources and tools.
- Support in organizing and facilitating workshops/seminars with stakeholders in public/private sectors related to climate change as may be required.
- Support and facilitate consultations (Key Informant Interviews and/or Focus Group Discussions) with relevant stakeholders/counterparts as may be required.
- Keep up to date with regional and sub regional climate change activity and engage with national and sub-regional officer networks and forums.
- Actively participate in project implementation & coordination meetings.
- Assist to develop technical concepts, guidelines, manuals, procedures, concept papers on climate and environment issues upon request from the management team.
- Provide inputs to project reports and publications upon request from the project team.
- Prepare weekly/monthly schedule of climate change related assignments.
- Provide M&E reports on a regular basis to the project team.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Provide support to other departments/Units either in bid preparation related activities or project implementation related activities whenever required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in environmental economics or climate-change-related field.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of global climate change issues and policies.
- Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, policy analysis, climate data analysis, and research studies.
- Strong research, data analysis, writing, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.
- Excellent communications skills; written and oral.
- Ability to consistently pay attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills; team player.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
