Job Summary: The Antimicrobial Use/Consumption Coordinator will provide Technical assistance in the development/review and implementation of AMU/C surveillance strategies, protocols, SOPs /tools in the human health sector and ensure integration with AMR data and synergies across sectors (Human Health, Animal Health, and Environmental Health). He/She will also support surveillance sites to report and generate information products on AMU/C surveillance.
NOTE: This is a contingent advert and the recruitment progression is dependent on the award of the anticipated grant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work through the national AMR steering committee/ Antimicrobial Stewardship, Optimal access and use (ASO) technical working committee to support the design/development, and implementation of AMU/C surveillance guidelines, protocols, SOPs and tools across surveillance sites.
- Support reporting/data collection, analysis, interpretation, integration, dissemination, and use of AMU/C data to promote rational antimicrobial use and influence policy/practices.
- Train, mentor and facilitate supportive supervision for surveillance sites to improve AMU/c surveillance, reporting (through the national data-based and Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS), data sharing and use.
- Identify bottlenecks to AMU/C surveillance and support the development and implementation of strategies for effective implementation.
- Build and maintain effective coordination and collaboration with AMR/U/C surveillance sites and other stakeholders (technical working groups and collaborators) for effective implementation.
- Support facilities and MoH in conducting AMU/C surveillance including Point Prevalence Surveys
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or its equivalent. Postgraduate training in public health is an added advantage.
- At least three years of progressive experience with at least three years’ experience in developing and implementing AMU/C surveillance systems.
