Avolio Industries Limited is an Avocado Oil Plant based in Uganda. The work environment is fast paced & challenging.
Job Summary: The A The Accountant is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and controlling the costs for the company within the approved budgets. Additionally, s/he is responsible for performing the day to day accounting work.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess all incoming products, resources, and services to ensure the best price.
- Monitor performance of cost centers with the aim of reducing cost by at least 10% per month.
- Posts Cash Books for various AVOLIO INDUSTRIES LIMITED Accounts.
- Ensures compliance with all statutory deductions like NSSF, WHT and PAYE submission by crosschecking authenticity of all supporting documents submitted and their accuracy.
- Receives and banks all cash and cheques in-touched
- Crosschecks payment vouchers to ensure they are stamped after payments have been made as a control to avoid double payments.
- Analyse invoices to ensure correct products/services were received at the expected cost.
- Ensuring that all supplier invoices are submitted to records office for filing.
- Managing the debts of creditors, ensuring timely payments are made, reconciling invoices, resolving account queries, and managing debt recovery
- Share weekly Debtors Report & follow up with commercial team on status of each overdue debtor
- Evaluating new credit requests and reviewing customers’ credit rankings
- Ensures that Invoices from suppliers & service providers are received at Accounts Office on time, monthly basis.
- Forecasting expenditures, planning budgets, classifying costs by category/cost center
- Monitor stock and share weekly reports on stock movement, classified as fast, slow, obsolete/damaged stock
- Coordinate monthly physical stock count & submits reports with in the cut-off date.
- Come up with a Fixed Asset Register for the company and share monthly Depreciation Schedule & pass relevant entries
- unto the accounting system.
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the High Authority of the company.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance
- A minimum of two to five years of accounting/finance experience
- Proven integrity and confidentiality in handling company’s resources and in executing duties
- A high level of interpersonal, management skills and ability to work with teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadline.
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
- Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases
- Professionalism with QuickBooks ONLINE and financial statements
Nice to Have (Desired)
- Corporate and personal tax experience is a plus
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable is preferred
- Experience with audits, budget creation, and expense reports strongly preferred
