About US:
Caritas Fort Portal-HEWASA with extended support from Caritas international Belgium is implementing protection and economic strengthening interventions in Kyaka 11 Refugee settlement to enhance income and protection among the refugees and the host community for 24 months from November 2023 to November 2025. Caritas Fort Portal-HEWASA would like to recruit suitably qualified personnel to fill the position that will be based in the field.
Job Summary: The Protection Officer in line with prevention and response approaches will among others be responsible for the day to- day direct delivery of protection and rule of law activities. He/ She will provide supervision and support to community extension workers (CEWs). Lead protection monitoring exercises, be responsible for the Development and implementation of relevant communication with community activities, coordinate community engagement through leadership structures. The incumbent will lead case management process for extremely vulnerable individuals, ensure the functioning of Information Support centers (ISCs) represent the organization at zonal and village level coordination meetings, ensure regular data on all activities and reports are available. The successful candidate will work closely with legal officers, identifying areas for collaboration and sharing of resources in achieving the objectives of the sector.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a University Degree in Law
- Three years of experience working with Vulnerable communities, basic needs and protection programing experience and or advocacy programs with professional training in child protection.
- Experience of working with NGOs and protection interventions in line with refugee operations
- Proficiency in English written and spoken is essential plus good communication skills and ability to conduct trainings and awareness.
- Computer skills, word, excel, power point and familiarity with monitoring and evaluation for UN and EU-funded projects desired.
- Experience in motorcycle riding with a valid license plus knowledge of the local language spoken by South Sudanese, Rwandese and Congolese refugees is an asset.
