Job Title:   Internal Auditor (Power)

Organisation: Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Senior Power Auditor

Uganda Electricity Transmission Company limited (UETCL) is responsible for bulk purchase of electricity from the generating companies and selling it in bulk to the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is also responsible for exports and imports of electricity to Uganda. Job Summary:   The Internal Auditor (Power) will carry out Value for money Audits and independent reviews/appraisals of UETCL’s internal control systems in areas of Power system planning, development, operations and maintenance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform relevant Audit tests and give reasonable assurance to management on compliance to company policies, engineering standards and best practices.
• Review existing maintenance programmes for all installation, and inform management on reliability, availability, quality of service, maintainability and security.
• Audit the existing transmission power system and technical procedures expressing opinions on the adequacy and effectiveness of the systems and the efficiency with which activities are carried out.
• Carry out Value for money Audits, in the areas of power system planning, development operations and maintenance and make appropriate recommendations to management.
• Perform Audit on power purchases, power sale, losses and make appropriate audit recommendations to management.
• Prepare and submit reports recommending corrective action to be taken in order to improve company operations

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from a reputable University.
• Registered with the Uganda institute of professional Engineers.
• Three years of working experience in the Power sector.
• Possession of a valid National Driving Permit.
• Knowledge of Project Management
• Must possess good oral and writing skills
• Must have good Interpersonal skills and a committed team player
• Must be a person of high Integrity, exhibit trust, independence and objectivity.
• Knowledge and experience of use of Computer Audit Packages such as Teammate will be an added advantage.
• Highly motivated, innovative and a committed team player.
