Job Title:  Systems Administrator

About US:

Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute (UWRTI) is a semi-autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, established by Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute Act, 2016. The Institute is mandated to: “Undertake research and training services for sustainable conservation and management of Uganda’s wildlife resources.’’

 

Job Summary:   The Systems Administrator will conduct effective operation and maintenance of Systems hardware

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Executes system administration duties on MIS database.
  • Evaluates and deploys all software and hardware upgrades to server infrastructure.
  • Monitors all servers, applications and services.
  • Performs regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining server level disaster recovery plans.
  • Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes.
  • Interfaces with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all IT infrastructures.
  • Manages intranet & internet connectivity throughout the institute.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of emerging server tools and technologies.
  • Backing up file systems and data.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • An honours Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a recognized Institute.
  • At least two years of experience
  • Age: Not above 45 years.
