Job Summary: The Office Assistant (OA) reports to the Resident Program Director (RPD) with guidance from other senior office staff. The Office Assistant is responsible for ensuring the office space is clean and organized, greeting office guests, providing refreshments to IRI staff and guests, and providing other administrative tasks as assigned. This position will be based with the program team in Kampala.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the office and find the source of any problematic issues.
- Implement duties to keep the workplace clean before office operating hours. These duties include sweeping floors, cleaning walls and windows, and throwing out the trash.
- Keep the facilities and other equipment clean.
- Provide refreshments to IRI staff and office guests as requested.
- Answer the door and telephone as needed.
- Provide all necessary materials and labor to perform the above services.
- Report to management whenever extensive repairs and other important renovations in the work area and/or office need to be done.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding office activities and guests.
- Maintain flexible working hours to accommodate varying daily office operations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Two to three years of professional experience providing office administrative services.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow instructions, complete tasks on time, and anticipate the needs of office staff.
- Fluency in the local language. Some English language skills preferred.
