Job Summary: Enabel in Uganda is seeking to recruit dynamic and competent individuals to fill 3 vacancies for the position of Enterprise Development and Decent Work Officer based either in the Jinja, Kampala or Fort Portal Offices.
The Enterprise Development and Decent Work Officer will support the day-to-day implementation, quality assurance and partnership management with the aim to support the Ugandan private sector in realising sustainable development for green growth and decent job creation
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- You Contribute to the capacity needs assessment of partner Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) in governance, financial management and business development service delivery, and the design of capacity development plans;
- You support the project and implementing partners in the mobilization, assessment (due diligence) and selection of targeted SMEs;
- You support towards expanding the existing Best Employer Awards to include decent and inclusive work criteria in the selection of “Best Employer of the Year”, and visibility of champions through an award ceremony.
- You provide technical insights in business models in the priority sectors with potential for growth and decent job creation/employment opportunities for youth and young women, to guide the mapping and mobilization of SMEs;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Masters’ degree in Business Administration, Economics or any other related field
- A Bachelor’s degree in private sector development, business administration, Economics, Investment finance or any other related field
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the implementation of financial and non-financial business development services geared towards the scaling or growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs);
- At least 2 years’ experience in implementing activities promoting access to employment for youth through private sector engagement;
- Experience in promoting decent work standards in formal or non-formal business operation contexts;
- Experience in organizational and institutional strengthening of business development service providers, enterprise development in the agriculture or green economy sector, or inclusive out grower’s schemes is an added advantage.
