Job Summary: The Relationship Manager – Bancassurance (General business) will work closely with the Principal Officer – Bancassurance to grow the General Insurance business portfolio, renewal retention and servicing of the existing and prospective clients. The incumbent is the primary point of contact for General Insurance clients and partners Insurance Companies.
He/She will work with all stakeholders (i.e., Insurers, Bank Segments/Branches, Bank Staff and Customers) to ensure proper communication and strengthen loyalty, business growth, premium collections and remittance with the end goal of Bancassurance Commission Income.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of business growth strategies necessary to generate leads and close business as per the set business goals/targets.
- Identify markets, cross-selling, up-selling, prepare quotations, schedule meetings, activations and presentations with potential clients (working closely with the Bancassurance Sales Officers and the respective Branches and Relationship Officers).
- Keep track of Client Insurance Renewals (Prepare proposals, renewal documents, quotations) for clients and communicate with insurers on any negotiations and/or following up on requests from clients.
- Ensure timely collection of customer premium and remittance to the Insurers so as to meet regulation requirements i.e., working with Insurers and Bancassurance Operations Officer to prepare reconciliation statements
- Support General Insurance penetration and productivity within from the Bank Segments i.e., Branches, Commercial, SME and Corporate through training and customer engagement working with the Bancassurance Sales Officer(s).
- Ensure timely collection of commissions from the Insurer(s) and supporting on commission reconciliations as per the set standards.
- Work closely with the Insurance Companies to ensure efficient delivery of services to Bank customers i.e., display branding materials in the Branches and engage in operational review meetings.
- Work with Insurers to develop and design Incentives to drive business/sales growth across the different Bank segments so as to achieve the set targets.
- Claims administration and management to ensure timely response to both Insurer and Client requests.
- Updating the production template with all Insurance policies sold and received from the Insurers to ensure correct reports are generated to the leads generators, departments and/or management.
- Conduct inspections, risk assessments, client trainings, client visits and service on a day-to-day basis to drive pipeline activities along with the Bancassurance Sales Officers.
- Study and understand the industry standard products, be familiar with clients’ policy wordings and establish what options the various insurers can provide.
- Actively participate in Insurance Sales activation programs organized by Branch management and Insurers working with the Bancassurance Sales Officers and the Principal Officer – Bancassurance.
- Ensure compliance to the Bank’s policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Comply with the AML/CFT/CPF policies and procedures, non-compliance of which shall be addressed as per the Bank disciplinary processes.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, banking, statistics, actuarial science or any business-related field.
- Must have a Certificate in Insurance or diploma in insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute of the United Kingdom or the Insurance Training College of Uganda (ITCU) or a similar institute.
- At least four (04) years working experience in the insurance industry in the areas of underwriting, claims, finance or regulation.
- Marketing and Sales qualifications would be an advantage.
- Knowledge in the principles and practices of General Insurance would be an advantage.
- Experience in working in the Banking industry would be an added advantage.
- Ability to analyze business opportunities and make value-adding recommendations
- Result driven with a track record of demonstrable networking, selling and influencing skills as well as ability to identify new opportunities.
- Demonstrate a solid awareness in operational risk and quality in driving service excellence
- Understanding of the financial services sector, legal framework, Bank Policies and Procedures.
- Knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint)
- Understanding of Bank products and services and knowledge of the banking operation issues in Uganda.
- Proactive and quick response to customers and employees’ queries;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Fluent in the English Language and any other local language preferably Luganda particularly for explanatory purposes to Bank customers who do not understand the English Language.
