Lastly, its Data arm aids the Advisory and Capital arms through digital data capture and analytics, market research, and insights to allow for actionable decision making but also provides project and data management services to external clientele.
Job Summary: We are seeking for passionate and motivated Information Science interns to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong interest in information technology and a knack for working with large volumes of data. As an Information Science Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of information science, working on real-world projects and contributing to the development of innovative solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data Collection and Analysis
- Identify and evaluate data sources.
- Extract and import data from various sources.
- Clean and prepare data for analysis.
- Organize data into a structured format.
- Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of large datasets.
- Identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data.
- Develop and implement data cleaning and transformation procedures
- Identify and address data quality issues, such as missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies.
- Implement data cleaning techniques, such as imputation, error correction, and normalization.
- Transform data into a format suitable for analysis and modeling.
- Document data cleaning and transformation steps for future reference.
- Utilize data visualization tools to create insightful reports
- Select appropriate data visualization techniques based on the type of data and the intended audience.
- Create charts, graphs, and maps to communicate insights from the data effectively.
- Design visually appealing and informative reports.
- Present data visualizations clearly and concisely.
- Use data visualizations to support data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Data Management principles and techniques.
- Proficiency in Data Analysis Tools, such as SQL, Python, and R.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
