DFCU Bank is a fast growing commercial bank offering a variety of innovative products and services. DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: Reporting to the Head – Business Transformation, the Manager – Business Transformation will be responsible for translating the approved Bank strategy to establish a centralized transformation initiative database, challenge ideas to optimize investment choices, set clear milestones for approved plans and rigorously track value realized back to the Bank’s return on investment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the teams across the Bank to translate the approved Bank strategy into actionable, value-based initiatives.
- Develop critical insights and recommendations to enhance the digital transformation journey.
- Develop dashboards for monitoring the progress of strategic initiatives and Key Performance Indicators.
- Monitor the implementation of projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement a cadence for monitoring the implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Identify potential roadblocks or challenges and work proactively to address them.
- Periodically challenge the direction of strategic initiatives to ensure they remain in line with the bank’s overall strategic vision.
- Carry out research on the industry and the operating environment to address emerging trends and provide the Business with market intelligence reports that highlight key Business opportunities and recommend actions to advance our play in specific areas of interest.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and platforms to support digital transformation initiatives.
- Collaborate with data analysts and finance Business Partners to leverage data insights for decision-making and optimization of projects.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to drive a culture of data-driven decision-making across the bank.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to strategic initiatives including digital transformation efforts.
- Assess the impact of strategic initiatives and make recommendations for optimization.
- Support the CEO’s office to identify, plan and execute internal and external stakeholder engagements aligned to the Bank’s strategy.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a University degree in business, finance, or numerical bias degree or equivalent.
- At least one relevant post graduate technical qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, PMP, PRINCE2.
- An MBA is an added advantage.
- At least five years of work experience preferably in financial services or Management Consulting, of which 2 years should be in Strategy, Business Transformation and/or financial analysis.
- Ability to analyze business opportunities and make value-adding recommendations.
- Strategic and logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability.
- Great attention to detail and follow through skills.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology and software tools to drive business transformation.
- An overall business acumen and successful track record of identifying business opportunities, as well as developing and driving growth initiatives.
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
- Strong networking and relationship management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-driven and goal oriented.
