AVSI is an international NGO with headquarters in Italy, which has been active in Uganda since 1984. Its current activities are focused in the areas of education, health, livelihoods, and protection, nutrition and refugee programs in Uganda.
Job Summary: AVSI Foundation is seeking to recruit suitably qualified personnel for the position of an Institutional Development Officer to support the mentorship and training of VTIs and coordinate activities that promote the collaboration between the VTIs and private sector actors. He/ she will be responsible for training, mentoring the human resource of the vocational training institutes and enable the achievement of their vision and goals to becoming a center of excellence.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifying development needs through job analysis and cross-team consultation.
- Conduct and accompany targeted capacity building activities with the school management teams at school level in areas of support supervision inspection and monitoring.
- Develop actions to strengthen multi-actor coordination, as well as planning, monitoring and inclusion of refugee needs and opportunities in all the education programs.
- Coordinate, implement and monitor trainings in the areas of management and leadership for school managers and district staff.
- Oversee the delivery of modules and a support package on participatory and accountable result-based and inclusive planning, budgeting and monitoring.
- Provide technical knowledge of institutional development in areas related to strategic planning, financial management, human resource management and asset management
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Education or any other related field;
- At least five years of management experience including at least three years at senior level.
- Considerable program development and management preferably in an international development setting;
- Extensive knowledge of Institutional/Organizational Development with experience as a management consultant.
- Proven leadership and people management skills;
- Excellent communication skills:
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate and influence;
- Demonstrated facilitation skills, with training skills highly desirable; and
- Computer skills, including extensive experience using Microsoft Word and Excel Internet and e-mail skills required.
