Aga Khan University has established four medical centres in Kampala, with the first opening in 2012. They offer consultations and referrals to specialist services. The Aga Khan University Hospital in Kampala is currently under construction.
Job Summary: The Medical Imaging Technologist will be responsible for performing ultrasound procedures and providing effective radiographic services within the laid down standards, operating policies and procedures with the aim of achieving images of high-quality diagnostic value.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct effective ultrasound procedures within the approved policies and procedures
- Perform high quality radiological examinations as per stipulated policy and procedures and guidelines (X- Rays)
- Conducting CT and Mammogram procedures as per approved protocols
- Ensure adequate and correct information is given to patients regarding procedures;
- Ensure safety of patients and machines through adequate preparation of patients;
- Monitor the patients’ condition all through the procedure;
- Ensure proper and accurate records of procedures volumes, environment and downtime.
- Ensure timely availability of images to facilitate timely reporting and dispatch of reports.
- Document and report all the faults on the machines to recommended authorities;
- Oversee maintenance services and ensure that machines are handed over in a good working condition after the service;
- Participate in preparation and implementation of quality initiatives aimed at improving overall of departmental services;
- Provide period reports as and when required;
- Report images promptly
- Ensure that all images are available in PACS
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree in Medical Imaging Sciences or Equivalent.
- Registration with Radiation Protection Board of Uganda
- Valid registration with The Allied Health Professional Council Uganda
- License with Radiation Protection Board
