About US:
The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF), which is also referred to as the Fund, was established as a separate legal entity following the enactment of the Financial Institutions (Amended) Act, 2016. Prior to this, DPF was managed by Bank of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Driver will support the Fund to fulfill its mission by providing safe driving support for authorized personnel, delivery and collection services, general administration, and logistical work.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive vehicle for official travel and business.
- Maintain a high standard of service to both internal and external guests.
- Ensure punctuality and safe transport.
- Observes the road and traffic laws and regulations of the Republic of Uganda.
- Ensures that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed to standards.
- Guarantees that products and staff are protected and secured.
- Ensures vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition at all times.
- Ensures vehicle is kept secure at all times.
- Ensures vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.
- Ensures vehicle repairs are carried out properly by official manufacturers specifications.
- Performs minor repairs and arrange for other repairs, prepare vehicle spare parts inventory.
- Prepares and submits vehicle monitoring report, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage, at the end of each month.
- Assists the Officer Administrative Services to ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated according to schedule.
- Prepares a budget plan for vehicle maintenance.
- Assists in the purchase of new vehicles by providing advice as and when requested.
- Logs official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, etc.
Key Outputs:
- Drive office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and equipment.
- Collection and delivery of mail, and other communications.
- Proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres etc.,
- Logs of all trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing etc.
- Ensures that in the event of an accident, appropriate measures are taken to ensure effective resolution in line with laws.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an A’ level certificate or its equivalent is essential.
- Valid driving license is essential.
- Certification in first aid is desired.
- 5+ years’ experience as a driver with a good driving record is essential.
- Certificate in defensive driving is essential.
- Effective communication with internal and external customers/partners is desired.
- Experience with driving four-wheel vehicles.
- Experience with driving to remote locations on project field trips and driving off the road in difficult conditions.
Competencies:
Technical Competencies
- Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs is an added advantage.
- Understanding of transportation law.
- Good knowledge about car mechanics.
- Knowledge of the location of international organizations, airline offices, hotels and restaurants.
