Job Summary: Wells of Life is currently seeking a WASH Officer to lead the execution of its Healthy Village Program in the Kabale and Rubanda Districts region. This position is a full-time, temporary maternity cover contract, spanning four months from December 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024
The main tasks involve accurately assessing WASH needs, sensitizing communities and schools on their contribution and responsibility towards water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, forming and training WUCs/WSCs, School Health/WASH Clubs and WASH Facilitators, monitoring activities, compiling progress reports, identifying and training beneficiaries, and ensuring participatory implementation, collaborating with relevant stakeholders such as District Health and Water Departments, managing program resources judiciously, guiding planning and budgeting, ensuring quality implementation in line with the budget, and promoting organizational values in communities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should have two years of professional experience in a related field, with exposure to WASH activities at the organizational level.
- Proven skills in community facilitation and mobilization at the community level.
- Technical knowledge of WASH approaches like CLTS, FUM, PHAST, and Community-Based WASH program management is essential.
- Fluency in the local languages spoken in Kabale District is a requirement. Proficiency in MS Office and Internet tools is necessary, and the candidate should be tech-savvy with experience in monitoring software such as ODK, Sparrow, Kobo Collect, Akvo Flow, mWater, etc.
- Experience in collaborating with partners, District Local Government, and various stakeholders is desired, and motorcycle riding skills would be an added advantage.
