Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit biomedical research Organization, whose mission is to mitigate disease threats through quality research, healthcare and disease surveillance. MUWRP was established in 2002 by a Memorandum of Agreement between The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. (HJF) and Makerere University (Mak) to undertake medical research to test HIV vaccines. Over the years, MUWRP’s portfolio has progressively expanded to include vaccine research for Ebola and Marburg viruses, surveillance of influenza and influenza- like viruses and other emerging infections in humans and animals; also epidemiological, basic and implementation research in HIV treatment, care and prevention programs in the Districts of Kayunga, Mukono, Buvuma and Buikwe.
Job Summary: The Training Coordinator will identify training needs, mapping out capacity development plans for teams and individuals; managing, designing and conducting all training programs together with timely reporting to relevant authorities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop annual training plans for PEPFAR supported regions.
- Design and create training programs, whether outsourced or in-house.
- Choose appropriate training methods (e.g., simulations, mentoring, on-the-job training).
- Promote available training to employees and provide session details.
- Conduct organization-wide training needs assessments to identify knowledge gaps.
- Stay updated on education principles and new training techniques.
- Prepare educational materials and aids.
- Assess training effectiveness and update training logs.
- Collect feedback from trainers and trainees and share reports with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and instructional design experts.
- Maintain a curriculum database and training records.
- Host train-the-trainer sessions for internal subject matter experts.
- Manage in-house training facilities and equipment.
- Research and recommend new training methods.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a diploma in a medical related field from a recognized institution.
- Two years of working experience of training programs preferably VMMC training as a trainer of trainers.
- A TOT certificate in VMMC is Must from a recognized institution.
- Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training events in a corporate setting.
- Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation
- Adequate knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
- Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
- Familiarity with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques
- Experience with e-learning platforms
- Strong organizational skills for handling multiple tasks.
- Exceptional written and oral communication abilities.
- Proficiency in budget management for training.
- Capable of working collaboratively and independently to meet objectives.
- Willingness to reside in Mukono and travel on water.
- Prepared for frequent travel to PEPFAR supported sites in Kayunga, Mukono, Buikwe and Buvuma Islands.
