The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act 2013 to regulate Telecommunications, Broadcasting and Postal sub-sectors. In carrying out its mandate and mission of driving the development of a robust communications sector in the country.
Job Summary: The Manager Public Relations & International Relations will coordinate the Commission’s communication efforts at both local and international levels, aligning with the strategic objectives. This role involves fostering collaboration with diverse stakeholders, tracking the impact of international memberships, managing key relationships, and overseeing the development of corporate content.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation, and review of the communications policy and strategy, focusing on both local and international levels in alignment with the Commission’s strategic objectives.
- Co-coordinate local and international participation of the Commission in various events and activities.
- Promote collaboration with local, intergovernmental, regional, and international organizations to strengthen the Commission’s partnerships and influence.
- Track the implementation of outcomes related to Uganda’s and the Commission’s memberships in local and international ICT Fora.
- Manage, and maintain key stakeholder relationships and strategic partnerships in the communications industry, both locally and internationally.
- Coordinate Uganda’s memberships and partnerships in international ICT Fora, ensuring alignment with the Commission’s objectives and mandate.
- Coordinate Uganda’s position and representation in all ICT memberships in accordance with the Commission’s mandate.
- Coordinate the development of local and international corporate content.
- Track the budget for the Public and International Relations unit,
- Support the digital content management framework.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Mass Communication or related field.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Membership to a relevant professional body.
- At least six years of work experience managing public relations, with a proven track record of successfully developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies in a similar corporate setting of which three (3) years’ experience must be in managing ICT related aspects.
- Experience in managing ICT related aspects in an international context will be an added advantage.
