Job Title:    Manager Finance and Accounts

Organisation: National Building Review Board

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Director Finance and Administration

 

About US:

The National Building Review Board is a government agency under the Ministry of Works and Transport established by the Building Control Act, 2013. The Board is mandated to monitor building developments; ensure that the design and construction of buildings and utilities to which the public is to have access cater for persons with disabilities; oversee, inspect and monitor the operations of Building Committees; hear and determine appeals from persons dissatisfied with the decisions of a Building Committee; and to determine the fees to be charged by urban and district building committees for approval of plans, issue of building permits and occupation permits.

 

Job Summary:   The Manager Finance and Accounts will provide strategic leadership on implementation of financial systems and procedures for accountability and control of the Board expenditures in line with the Accounting Standards as well as the national financial management legal and policy framework.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leading the financial resources mobilisation strategies and activities
  • Reconciling the expenditure accruals and prepayments accounts.
  • Keeping accurate financial records
  • Updating internal systems with financial data
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Leading the organisation to participate in financial audits
  • Tracking and reporting on bank transactions
  • Reviewing and implementing financial policies
  • Preparing and following up on staff insurance entitlements and maintaining records of insurance policies
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by mandated authority





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Accounting, Commerce (Accounting option), Business Administration (Accounting option) or a related field with a bias in Accounting from a recognized University or Institution.
  • A Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Must be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (Accounting)
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant working experience, four (4) of which should have been at senior level in Government or reputable institution.
