Job Summary:   The QHSE Officer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing Company Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Management System. The QHSE Officer will be fully responsible for implementing safe systems of work at all levels of the organization.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement improvements to the contractor works permitting process, continually checking that the process is being used effectively.
• Manage the Project safety program including initiatives to train/improve, check and track contractor compliance with QHSE standards e.g. Inspection of Contractor Conformity (ICC).
• Establish an annual contractor HSE audit program and ensure the execution of all planned audits, with reports and follow up on closure of identified gaps
• Establish and communicate annual contractor HSE objectives and KPIs & follow up monthly.
• Devise and advance methods of achieving zero accidents across worksites.
• Compile safety programs and Practice safe working techniques implementing and maintain health and safety standards.
• Maintain compliance with all safety regulations
• Conduct regular staff meetings to share best practice techniques
• Standardize health and safety to remain consistent
• Identify hazardous waste and disposing of it correctly
• Compile and maintain relevant registers to ensure compliance
• Participate in the coordination and execution Quality Management System.
• Provide leadership for Quality Management System internal audits and conduct follow up audits / checks to monitor non-conformities and ensure other actions are completed
• Participate in the External Audits for ISO certification and other certification organizations.
• Recommend appropriate changes because of the audit results to Kamit Integrated Management Systems for Quality, Environment, and information Security where necessary.
• Taking minutes and producing a report for the annual management review meetings for Kamit ISO certifications

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree required. Civil, Electrical or Mechanical, Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene or related field highly preferred.
• Experience in petroleum, terminal/depot operations, logistics, safety and engineering is desirable
• Skills in analysis, public speaking, supervision, training groups is needed.
• Strong digital applications skills are necessary (Ms. Excel, MS. Project Word, PPT, etc).
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both individually and within a team
• Preferably from Hoima, Buliisa, Kikuube, Nyowa, Packwach, Masindi districts
