FCA Uganda is now looking for competent persons to fill the Position of Digital Competency Training Officer, for the Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI) project.
Role purpose: Finn Church Aid (FCA) is one of the consortium partners for the Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI) program in Uganda. RETI is a collaborative program with Muni University and seven other partners, implemented with support from the Mastercard Foundation. The program aims to address unemployment challenges faced by young people aged 15 – 35 years in 15 refugee hosting districts in Uganda, particularly focusing on young women.
Job Summary: As a Digital Competency Training Officer, you will play a crucial role in training and preparing young people for the digital age. Your responsibilities will include designing and delivering training programs related to digital literacy, digital innovation, and information technology. You will empower young people with the skills needed to access digital job opportunities and stay competitive in today’s workforce.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
- Develop digital competency training curricula tailored to the needs of young people, keeping them relevant to the evolving digital landscape.
- Ensure training materials are engaging, up-to-date, and aligned with industry standards.
Digital Literacy Training:
- Provide hands-on training on basic computer skills, internet usage, digital communication tools, and online safety.
- Offer training on using various software applications and tools.
Digital Innovation Training:
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions on digital innovation, creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills.
- Encourage students to develop digital projects and creative solutions.
Technical Skills Training:
- Teach technical skills relevant to digital careers, including web development, coding, graphic design, or other areas of interest.
- Guide students in developing practical skills required for digital jobs.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct regular assessments to gauge students’ progress in digital competency.
- Provide feedback and support to help students improve their digital skills.
Mentorship and Career Guidance:
- Offer mentorship and career guidance to students on job opportunities in the digital sector.
- Provide advice on self-employment and entrepreneurship in the digital field.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and document student attendance, performance, and achievements.
- Prepare regular reports on training progress and outcomes.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the safety of students during practical digital training sessions.
- Adhere to quality standards and ensure that training meets industry requirements.
Gender Sensitivity:
- Promote gender equality in all aspects of digital training and ensure that both male and female students have equal access to opportunities.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other project staff, partners, and relevant stakeholders to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in project planning, meetings, and workshops.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as information technology, computer science, or digital media.
- Digital literacy certification or qualifications are preferred.
- Proven experience in digital competency training or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of digital tools, applications, and software.
- Excellent instructional and communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of young people.
- Strong commitment to youth development and digital skills training.
