Job Title:   Data Analytics Officer

Organisation: Uganda National Airlines Company Limited

Duty Station: Entebbe, Uganda

Reports to: Manager, IT Delivery

About US:

Uganda Airlines is the flag carrier of Uganda. The company is a revival of the older Uganda Airlines which operated from 1977 until 2001. It began flying in August 2019.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and develop Corporate data warehouse, data models, and data marts based on corporate reporting needs
• Work with 3rd party vendors and internal stakeholders to identify, design, and develop data integration solutions to ensure that there is seamless and automated data exchange between different applications used in the company
• Develop and maintain application programming interfaces (APIs) required to improve the application integration environment
• Work with 3rd party vendors and System administrators to troubleshoot and resolve data integration and reporting incidents in production environments
• Develop and maintain corporate data governance, data security, and data protection standards
• Document and continuously keep up-to-date enterprise-wide data integration designs

Key Performance Indicators

• Effectively gather and validate requirements.
• Maintain proper documentation such as solution design documentation, and integration documents.
• Accurately size the effort required to execute a project.
• Effectively manage customer expectations by constantly communicating to business users.
• Deliver development projects within the agreed schedule and plan.
• Quality assurance by reducing the number of bugs uncovered during tests.
• Ensure that all development projects are aligned with the overall project objective and that the result meets all requirements.
• Adherence to architecture and design principles and coding standards
• Self-motivated, enjoy problem-solving, solution development
• Adhere to the IT System development methodology (SCRUM)
• Working long hours and unplanned odd hours
• Understanding business processes and business needs
• Need to be technologically updated with emerging trends
• Understanding user needs so that these are transformed into business application

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related degree
• Training and certification in data science, data analytics, and/or statistical analysis
• Certification in data analytics tools
• Three years experience in developing BI and analytics solutions such as Oracle OBIEE, Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, etc
• Experience in working with Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience in Oracle and Microsoft database architecture
• Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle process
• Interests in Statistics, data analytics, data warehouse, and applications integrations.
• Good troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
• Effective liaison skills and the ability to work with a wide range of professionals in various disciplines.
• Commitment to research and a high affinity for delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction
