Job Title:    Technical Officer – Trainee (3 No Experience Jobs)

About US:

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is a corporate body responsible for regulation of civil aviation in the country. It manages Entebbe International Airport (EIA) and thirteen (13) other upcountry aerodromes. UCAA carries out its work in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).

Job Summary:   The Technical Officers – Trainee will acquire professional and technical skills in the field of engineering with regard to Project management, Maintenance /installation, Planning and Documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Reading widely to acquaint self with Aviation Industry and ICAO regulations

• Acquaints self with the operations of ICAO, the African and Indian Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APIRG), the Uganda CAA and the Directorate of Air Navigation Services.

Undertaking job orientation.

• Undergoes on-job orientation in the telecommunications system used in the CAA.

Taking full advantage of rotation

• Attachment to various Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) and Air Traffic Services (ATS) units of the Directorate of Air Navigation Services.
• The jobholder gets fully involved in the operations of and the working of the attachment Unit.
• The jobholder develops a beneficial working relationship with his supervisors at the attachment Unit.

Participating in the implementation of Annex 10 and the AFI Air Navigation Plan requirements.

• Keeps abreast of Annex 10 contents as regards:
• Equipment specifications
• Requirements of testing
• The type of mandatory equipment of airports etc.

SMS

• Performs the safety responsibilities of trainee detailed in the UCAA Aviation Safety Handbook

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The applicant must hold a relevant honors’ degree in any of the following; Electrical (light current) Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering with a science background.
• Twenty-six (26) years or less at the time of the deadline for submission of the application. Must submit a copy of the National Identification Card with the application.
• Ready to stay in Entebbe and work shifts including; day, night, weekends and public holidays.
• Ready to accept posting to any upcountry aerodrome as and when required.
• Ready to undergo medical examination.
• Knowledge, background and experience in system installations, computing and Information technology
