Bantwana programming works closely with individuals, families, communities, and governments to respond to these critical needs, while addressing the structural drivers of HIV, increase resilience and decrease the risk for and impact of HIV/AIDS WEI/Bantwana is a leader in OVC programming and organizational capacity development in high HIV prevalence countries in southern and Eastern Africa.
Job Summary: The Communications Officers are responsible for the advocacy and strategic communications needs of the REAL Fathers Project throughout its implementation in Bunyoro and Teso Sub Regions. The Officers will provide technical support in the area of communication to all project stakeholders Successful candidates must be passionate, innovative and self-driven with demonstrated skills in branding, social behaviour change communication (including digital) and advocacy… The Communications Officers will work with the program teams and report to the Country Director.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage REAL Fathers communications activities and strategies including the development and sharing of communications materials externally.
- Work in collaboration with technical, field, and M&E team to develop core messaging of most significant change stories, and promising best practices of REAL Fathers program activities
- Provide writing, infographics, content editing for content to be distributed externally for Publication.
- Train Staff and Community Mentors on communications best practices.
- Work closely with technical, field, and M&E team to develop high-quality periodic (annual, quarterly, etc.) reports highlighting program impact and progress in line with contract requirements.
- Support technical, field, and M&E teams in building their digital communications capacities (writing, presenting, social media use etc.) to promote project activities.
- Develop relevant communication materials (Factsheets and posters) in line with REAL Fathers projects communication strategy.
- Monitor communication trends.
- Provide other communications support to the REAL Father Project as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Mass Communication/Journalism, social sciences or related field degree related to development.
- Three years of experience in the following areas:
- Development and/or implementation of communication strategies and use of evidence in communication.
- Digital communication, website and social media content management.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design experience, including the ability to present concepts verbally
- Solid experience in creating literature reviews, summarizing complex information and producing advocacy materials.
- Possess strong organizational, summarizing and report writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and multi- task in a fast-paced working environment.
- Highly motivated, flexible and committed to teamwork and desire to work with diverse categories of people.
- Fluent in Local language (at work station base) and English.
