About US:
Makerere University –Johns Hopkins University (MU-JHU) Research Collaboration conducts clinical and translational research with a focus on HIV, TB and other conditions which affect the health and well-being of children, adolescents, women and their families. MUJHU was founded in 1988 as a collaboration between researchers from Makerere University and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA at a time when the AIDS epidemic was at its peak in Uganda, with an initial mission to improve the lives of families infected and affected by HIV through Research, Care and Training. In 2006, the MUJHU Research Collaboration was registered as a not-for-profit entity in Uganda entitled ‘MUJHU Care Limited’ with a continuation of the Collaboration’s vision and mission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The holder of this position will work under the direct supervision of the Study Coordinator with guidance from the Principal Investigator, and will be responsible for the following duties:
- Support and participate in study participant recruitment and follow up.
- Carry out quality control measures through the review of collected data for completeness and validity and ongoing data cleaning.
- Troubleshoot to identify common causes of errors during documentation /protocol deviations and suggest corrective/preventive actions.
- Assist the study Coordinator in compilation of study reports.
- Participate in obtaining consent from potential participants for TRIM study.
- Review consent documents before handing them over to the regulatory affairs office for safe custody.
- Collect required data from specified health centres/ hospitals and or homes of participants.
- Run errands between the study sites to facilitate data collection activities.
- Participate in protocol team trainings and meetings.
- Maintain professional GCP/HSP accreditation and complete study specific training as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Diploma in Nursing/midwifery/Clinical medicine with a certificate or diploma in counselling. A post graduate diploma or degree in a health-related field is an added advantage.
- Two years of working experience in a busy health institution.
- Experience in research setting will be an added advantage.
- We seek motivated professionals who are computer literate (Microsoft office), able and willing to learn quickly, have good organisational skills, pay attention to detail with strong documentation skills.
