Job Summary: The Security Officer will champion security management by providing oversight over security and safety of the bank’s property and persons (customers, visitors, staff).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess security risks and ensure that appropriate measures are in place to protect the bank’s property and persons (customers, visitors, staff).
- Liaise with the supervisors of contracted security companies to effect regular rotation of security guards deployed at TBL premises.
- Ensure that security weaknesses and breaches are identified and reported to Executive Management.
- Maintain an updated bank’s security incidents and breaches register
- Develop a culture of security awareness and practice throughout the bank by conducting regular security awareness programs.
- Monitor and coordinate the movement of Cash in Transit (CIT) across the entire branch network.
- Conduct security surprise checks to ascertain the alertness of day and night security guards deployed to man TBL premises.
- Ensure that the security personnel contracted to provide guarding services to TBL have the requisite training, resources, and resilience.
- Conduct Fire drills and trainings for all staff on an annual basis
- Ensure proper functioning of Branch Intrusion system (alarm monitoring system, fire system, panic buttons and access control) and CCTV Cameras across the entire branch network.
- Maintain updated service level agreements with security guarding, CIT, CCTV and Alarm maintenance service providers.
- Implement all service level agreements with contracted companies as per the agreed mandates
- Preparation of security reports to management on security status of the bank and present the report to the Management Risk Committee.
- Comply with AML/CFT/CPF policies and procedures
Key Performance Indicators
- Number of Security Incidents Reports prepared and presented to Management
- Number of rotations made in a year
- Updated Security Incidents Register
- Number of Security surprise checks conducted in a year
- Satisfactory Internal Audit Rating
- Number of security awareness trainings conducted in a year
- Functional CCTV and Branch intrusion systems
- Number of fire drills and trainings conducted
- Number of updated service level agreements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a diploma from recognized University
- Security Background with training in the fields of Criminal investigations, Fraud, and Counter terrorism
- Three years of experience in investigations and relevant experience on bank Security and operations.
- Knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint)
- Understanding of Bank products and services and knowledge of the banking operation issues in Uganda.
- Proactive and quick response to customers and employees’ queries;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Fluent in the English Language and any other local language preferably Luganda particularly for explanatory purposes to Bank customers who do not understand the English Language.
