Job Summary: The Products Officer will actively undertake execution of the new product development and implementation strategy, product enrichment initiatives and tracking of product performance in line with the regulatory framework to drive adoption of the products, foster business growth goals through innovation, various sales initiatives to grow product uptake, monitoring and support on the product initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
New product development and implementation
- Implement appropriate procedures in line with the requirements and process in ‘user’ units.
- Undertake periodic reviews of inactive products in-order-to drive prompt usage.
- Go-to-person of related system enhancements for new and existing products.
- Issue resolution in relation to product related issues
- Carry out business risk assessment and institute controls to mitigate the risks, monitor compliance and safe operations of the channels.
- Innovation to address new business opportunities and/or improve processes.
- Ensure Governance, Compliance, Risk and Control are implemented and adhered to meet the set standards. Staff at all levels to be clear on what is expected of them. Any new regulatory or Group requirements are implemented and reviewed in a timely fashion.
- Understand technical/regulatory matters affecting the business. Ultimate responsibility for the continuing compliance.
Product enrichment initiatives
- Implement approved product initiatives
- Management and development of new product
- Management of customer communications on product changes
- Implement governance, risk, compliance and controlling line with group policies.
- Adhere to standards, legal and regulatory, in accordance with the group guidance.
- Frequently monitor competitor landscape and take action to keep the bank ahead of competition.
Tracking Products KPIs
- Tracking and increasing utilization of new product(s) performance by current and prospective customers and prepare monthly reports on revenues, expenses, and trading profits.
- Manage all aspects of MIS Reporting relating to PB, SME & Corporate Banking Products.
- Product revenue targets & expense control goals
- Responsible for project governance & control
- Implement periodic product reviews
- Implement inactive product review initiatives
- Manage product related issues within agreed service level agreements.
- Management, monitoring of product uptake & usage.
- Implement and maintain a coaching and training program for the branch/sales colleagues.
- Continuously review E2E processes around product development.
- Lead and direct staff to achieve business objectives pertaining to products.
- Any other responsibility as & when assigned by the competent authority of the bank from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an university graduate in a business or IT related programs.
- At least three years of experience in banking, business management/ product management/ system analyst role in the financial sector.
- A good understanding of product development processes and procedures.
- Exposure to product development, sales, and operations.
- Projects and stake holder’s management.
- Excellent understanding of the principles and techniques of project management and the ability to apply them.
- Excellent understanding of the Bank’s Strategy and ability to interpret this and map it to the market now and plan future
- Strategic decision making.
- Good presentation, written and oral communication skills.
- Team player that motivates and educates others.
- Good overall knowledge of product development.
- A good understanding of the techniques of Performance Management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong and confident communicator.
- Excellent knowledge of operational and systems user requirements for financial products.
- Analytical business programs understanding e.g., advanced excel, Ms. Access.
- Self-motivated, assertive and proactive.
- East Africa regional experience is an added advantage.
