We provide Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Nutrition.
Job Summary: Responsible for the delivery of consistent, high-quality technical services to support MTI’s programs within
Uganda. Reporting to the Uganda IT Coordinator and working closely with the Global IT Services Team at Headquarters in implementation and delivery and management of IT services. Provide technical support to data collection applications and infrastructure at the program front line.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring consistent technology support to all staff and troubleshooting IT related issues.
- Collaborating with IT Coordinator to identify technology needs and ensure solutions meet program requirements.
- Observe and support the appropriate use of IT materials and assets, ensuring assets are issued and returned in line with MTI policies.
- Support the IT Coordinator based in Kampala with assurance of service levels in designated geographical areas and projects as instructed.
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of all user systems, including
- computers, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Act as focal point to connectivity service providers and ensure stable connection levels are maintained in designated locations.
- Ensure software licensing, patching and maintenance for end-user systems and services and, ensuring
- compliance with licensing requirements on all Medical Teams user systems.
- Manage airtime, data, and DSTV subscriptions and disseminate to staff according to MTI policies and procedures.
- Provide information systems technical expertise and support to data collection processes in health facilities and community health workers.
- Deliver technical capability in the systems and platforms used for data collection and reporting and act as the country focal point for these systems.
- Use and maintain central storage systems to ensure access to and continuity of information across locations.
- Contribute to increased adoption of MTI standard IT systems through promotion and training of staff in policies, procedures, and systems.
- Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent certificate in Information Technology/Systems.
- Vendor Professional Certification or other certification in software development would be an advantage.
- Two or more years of experience providing technical support in a business environment, primarily in systems administration and providing training to end users.
- Some experience in software development & database management would be an advantage.
- Some experience working with Cisco Systems would be an advantage.
- Experience working with INGOs is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of software development, networking, and desktop operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of database administration.
- Strong knowledge of wireless technologies and connectivity.
- Strong knowledge of data collection platforms and tools.
- Strong knowledge of information security policies and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of troubleshooting techniques.
- Skilled in troubleshooting IT issues.
- Skilled in identifying IT needs.
- Expertise in WLAN developments.
- Expert user of database systems.
- Skilled conducting training and skills transfer for staff on IT matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to explain technical processes in everyday terms.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to travel long distances.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of staff and patient information.
- Ability to be flexible and manage stress, especially in resolving urgent IT issues.
- Ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct.
