Job Title: Curriculum Development Consultant – Project Hello World
Organisation: Imagine Her (IH)
Duty Station: Seguku-Katale, Wakiso, Uganda
Reports to: Lead Engineer-Project Hello World
Contract Period: 6 months
About US:
Imagine Her is a local non-profit working with communities to accelerate the power and potential of women, girls, and youth as active leaders and social entrepreneurs creating sustainable solutions within their communities.
We are implementing Project Hello World for which we are seeking to work with a Curriculum Development Consultant to develop content for both online and offline users around Hello hub communities
About Project Hello World
WHAT WE DO: Hello World provides educational resources and Internet connectivity to isolated and vulnerable communities. We do this by building solar-powered, outdoor Internet kiosks— so that underprivileged children and adults can educate themselves, communicate with others, and have a voice in the global community.
HOW WE DO IT: Hello World mobilises communities to build Hello Hubs, solar-powered outdoor Internet kiosks, with state-of-the-art technology including high-quality solar panels, satellite connectivity, rugged, waterproof touch-screen screens, camera and audio equipment. Hello Hubs are designed to withstand extreme outdoor weather and are energy autonomous, which means that they can bring connectivity and education to even the most isolated communities.
WHY WE DO IT: 40% – that’s FORTY PERCENT – of the global population do not have meaningful access to the internet. Hello World is driven by the mission of bridging the digital divide, addressing issues such as power scarcity, limited connectivity, affordability, and inadequate digital skills to ensure equitable access to the internet for all.
With Hello World, children can learn, and explore the world’s body of knowledge, right in the centre of their community. And; we’re challenging the standard approach to development work – because we don’t build Hello Hubs, we teach communities how to build them for themselves.
