Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning, assigning, and reviewing the works of all mechanics and electricians in the workshop.
- Commute to job site to conduct equipment inspections, maintenance and repairs.
- Conduct equipment functionality, use, and safety tests.
- Checking that all vehicles on site are maintained to a good standard.
- Ensures that the work environment is consistent with that of construction equipment yard and repair shop.
- Ensures that the required PPEs are available to perform works and support on safety training.
- Preparing daily production records and completing quality reports.
- Arrange for materials to be at the construction site and evaluate plans for each construction job.
- Ensure that a safe and healthy work environment exists by adhering to company health, safety, and environment policies, and ensure full compliance with relevant legislations.
- Ensure that vehicles are maintained and serviced in accordance with departmental service standards.
- Ensure that the workshop environment and operating practices are of a high standard and that special tools and equipment is well maintained
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Professional Certificate/training in Mechanics with 10 years’ experience will be considered in lieu of the required diploma
- 15 years of work experience in heavy machine inspections and operations. Has proven knowledge and ability in Engine and gear boxes repairs, performs fault diagnosis tests, Advanced knowledge in maintenance of asphalt plants, quarries and concrete plants.
- 5 Years’ experience working in supervisory position in a mechanical workshop.
- Good team management skills.
- Planning, organizing, and coordinating skills with ability to work without supervision.
- Excellent supervisory skills.
- Ability to prioritize.
- Ability to keep track of and report on activity.
- Experience in planning maintenance operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent leadership and management skills.
