The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) is the apex business membership organization in the country. PSFU has established a Program-Project Management and Delivery Unit (PPMDU) that will have oversight over the full project cycle from project conceptualization, design, implementation, monitoring and closure.
Job Summary: The IT Manager is a senior IT professional in charge of the PSFU’s technology strategy, its implementation and is responsible for continuously advancing it. Responsible for leading and coordinating a team of IT experts in the department, the (IT) Manager independently manages ICT infrastructure and services in the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU). The position holder ensures the smooth running of our computer systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines. The IT manager also runs regular checks on network and data security, identifies and acts on opportunities to improve and update software and systems, develops and implements IT policy and best practice guides for the organization.
The ideal candidate will have advanced technical knowledge and keen interest in adapting and implementing industry’s best practice processes and is a critical stakeholder in collaboratively working cross functionally to strengthen internal controls and processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Coordinate and supervise the IT team.
- Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness for the IT department.
- Ensures that ICT policies, rules and procedures are in place, are adapted to the local context and ensures compliance by all users.
- Manages and coordinates all IT-related matters including data, wireless communications, mobile technology, telephony, security, and computer hardware and software.
- Trouble-shoots is innovative and creatively solves problems related to hardware, software, and network problems.
- Ensures that ICT infrastructure is functional, conforms to organization’s standards and local rules and regulations, and is used properly.
- Ensures that communications infrastructure is installed, maintained, and monitored in accordance with organization’s guidelines, policies, and local conditions.
- Monitors network utilization and performance, implements procedures for network optimization, reliability, and availability.
- Anticipates users’ needs in terms of daily use and innovative solutions; ensures these solutions are integrated into the organization’s ERP.
- Researches and recommends and Implements acquisition of network hardware and software (including coordination of ERP and related applications)
- Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time.
- Build long term relationships with outside vendors for IT related products and services.
- Negotiates contracts and facilities agreements with local IT vendors/suppliers.
- Makes sure IT security guidelines are operationalized.
- Conducting regular IT audits and compliance management.
- Designing training programs and workshops for ICT in the organization.
- Any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a University degree in Computer Science, Information systems, Information Technology and Computer engineering.
- MBA is advantageous.
- Certification in MySQL and ERP or any other related training.
- At least seven years of experience as an ICT manager.
- A minimum of three to four years of troubleshooting experience in an area of the ICT service catalogue (e.g., workplace services, telecommunications, IT, help desk).
- At least two years of people-management experience.
- Working knowledge of any programming language (C++, Python, R, SAP, SAS)
- Managing ERP systems and training non-IT staff in using the ERP
- Experience in automation using PowerShell scripts.
