Its Vision is “to be the preferred partner of Microfinance households in Uganda”. Its mission is, “to provide satisfactory Microfinance Services to households in Western Uganda to enable them realize their Socio-economic goals”.
Job Summary: The Internal Audit Manager will formulate and lead the execution of an Audit strategy that aims to mainstream implementation of risk-based auditing methodologies at Hofokam Ltd buttressed in internal auditing standards, accounting standards, international financial reporting standards, national laws, policies and guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Audit Planning: Lead the technical development, processes for approval and integration of the annual internal audit plans, quarterly engagement plans and budgets into the overall corporate plan of Hofokam.
- Audit Testing: Lead the preparation, utilisation and sustained updating of comprehensive audit programmes for all auditable areas of Hofokam Ltd. Updated audit programmes should feed into promptly revised audit charters and technical manuals of the Audit Department.
- Development of Findings: Facilitate team leadership in application of standard rules for development of audit findings and key audit matters for integration into draft and final internal audit reports.
- Audit Reviews: Undertake leading the technical audit review sessions following completion of on-site and off-side examination of records, processes and controls by the audit staff.
- Audit File Documentation: Guide the implementation of the standard indexing system for compilation of quarterly internal audit engagements.
- Audit Reporting: Lead the audit teams and auditees through preparation, presentation and disposal of audit assurance deliverables spelt out in the audit charter and manual of Hofokam Ltd.
- Audit Matter Follow-ups: Lead the development of audit tracker and rating system for the reporting on the progress of implementation of prior internal and external audit recommendations.
- Human Resource Management: Undertake implementation of the capacity strengthening programmes for the audit teams in order to sustain conformity to technical delivery and stakeholder expectations of Hofokam Ltd.
- Performance Management: Lead the induction, orientation, continuous development and evaluation of the performance standards for the audit teams following established appraisal processes and techniques for audit and assurance services;
- Investigative, Transformative and Special Audit Engagements: Be prepared to guide the planning and execution of special audit assignments in line with standards on agreed upon audit engagements and procedures.
Key Result Areas
- Effective annual and quarterly internal audit engagement planning expedited;
- Well indexed audit files prepared and safely kept;
- Concise quarterly internal audit reports prepared and presented to the Board of Directors through the Board Audit Committee;
- Well demonstrated system for implementing the internal audit cycle;
- Well developed system installed and implanted for rating the internal control systems and strategy indicators for Hofokam;
- Interventions for Control Strengthening and Performance Improvement coordinated.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Honor’s Bachelor degree in either Business Administration (Accounting or Finance option), Commerce, Accounting or Finance.
- Professional qualification in Auditing, Accounting or Finance like ACCA, ICA, CPA, CA or equivalent.
- Post graduate diploma in an auditing or banking related discipline.
- Over four (4) years working experience in a financial institution, two (2) of which should have been in a supervisory position.
Competences
- Ability to work under pressure, team oriented, high integrity, willingness to train others, assertiveness, ability to use auditing tools, techniques and detect fraud.
- Should be computer literate.
- Management proficiency, coordination, decision making, coaching, planning and strategy development skills.
- Keeps up to date with industry and regulatory changes and professional standards.
- Age: 27 – 40 years of age.
