Job Title:  Production and Marketing Assistant (Fresher Jobs)

Job Summary:  The Production and Marketing Assistant will be a vital part of our team, working directly with local communities to implement the food security and nutrition programs and initiatives. She/he will be responsible for the day-to-day technical support to participating farmers to optimizing the agricultural production processes by target as well as implementing marketing strategies to promote agricultural products effectively. Will assist the project team in identifying potential pro-poor value chains, the key constraints, and design value chain development strategies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in Setting up clear targeting criteria, identification, verification, and selection of target beneficiaries ensuring inclusivity and diversity.
• Act as a liaison between the organization and local communities, building trust and rapport with community members to facilitate effective implementation of project activities.
• Ensure sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices through efficient use of resources, such as land, water as well as maintaining proper soil and crop health, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Train and provide follow-up technical support to participating households on sustainable and productive agroecology farming systems (permaculture, agroforestry etc.) to ensure sustainable food system and community resilience building.
• Train and provide regular follow-up technical support to participating households on relevant skills such as good agronomic practices, nutrition sensitive climate smart agriculture, postharvest handling & value addition, farming as a business, financial literacy, and other soft skills.
• Support establishment and strengthening of farmers’ organization (VSLAs, cooperatives etc.) and collective marketing for increased bargaining power and standardized product quality.

• Participate in workshops, conferences, networking events and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of project staff and partners and foster collaboration.
• Collect data related on agricultural production and marketing performance.
• Prepare timely reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges encountered, highlighting key achievements and recommendations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in agricultural production, including crop cultivation and livestock management.
• Familiarity with sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
• Strong marketing skills with a track record of successfully promoting agricultural products.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret data effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports.
• Knowledge of the West Nile Region and its social, cultural, and economic context is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the West Nile Region, such as Lugbara, Alur, or Madi, is an asset.
• Familiarity with work in refugee settlements, and refugee host-communities is an added advantage.
• Basic Computer skill is required.
