About US:
Trust AIC Foundation (TAF) formerly AIDS Information Centre-Uganda (AIC) is a catalytic not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organisation established on 14th February,1990 to provide Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) services to the population of Uganda.
TAF was the pioneer HIV Counselling and Testing Centre in Africa. Over the last 33 years, TAF has since evolved into a thought-leader in HIV programming, Health Systems Strengthening and Knowledge Management.
Job Summary: The Communication, Policy, Documentation and PR Specialist will carry out appropriate documentation, communication, and branding of TAF (AIC)’s work and to maintain good relations with the public so as to promote TAF (AIC)’s Mission, values, practices and image.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a communication and branding strategy to promote TAF (AIC) mission, visibility, consistency and a positive image
- Generate monthly reports on advocacy and public relations, newsletters, speeches, media releases and fact sheets
- Develop and manage the Website and social media networks.
- Provide the media with information about TAF (AIC) and its services; Media articles, press releases, and news articles
- Develop periodic reviews of TAF (AIC) branding and marking tools and guidelines in conformity with partner institution
- Provide to TAF (AIC) units technical support on communications, documentation, branding, and Public Relations
- Develop and distribute TAF (AIC) branding and IEC materials
- Develop and implement TAF (AIC) information management strategy and guidelines
- Develop documentation and communication protocol guidelines
- Effectively coordinate key TAF (AIC) events; advocacy program workshops, HIV and AIDS campaigns and annual general meetings
- Control information output by handling incoming requests for information from media outlets. Provide technical support and guidance to drama groups and Advocacy Assistants at the service centers.
- Re-package research findings for sharing with the general public’s and manage internal communications output
- Design and launch electronic HIV prevention campaigns.
- Monitor the media and public opinion to ensure projection and protection of TAF (AIC)’s image and reputation
- Liaise with the print and electronic media to organize announcements, talk shows, press conferences and to provide coverage on TAF (AIC) work for the general public
- Maintain TAF (AIC) website with an attractive and interactive design and updated with relevant information on a weekly basis.
- Create TAF (AIC) literature and promotional materials, both print and electronic
- Model TAF (AIC) work through e-channels including; TAF (AIC) website, social media, print and electronic media, list serve groups
- Develop periodic reviews of TAF (AIC) branding and marking tools and guidelines in conformity with partner institution
- Develop and disseminate TAF (AIC) branding, Promotion and IEC materials including newsletters, brochures, information booklets, calendars, T-shirts etc
- Publish HIV/AIDS videos and photography on TAF (AIC) website and blogs
- Draft and send press releases that contain important updates about TAF (AIC) to print and broadcast media outlets
- Plan, coordinate and execute TAF (AIC) events and activities that promote TAF (AIC)’s Mission
- Organize TAF (AIC) Annual general meeting and other corporate functions
- Organize and manage exhibitions at public events that promote TAF (AIC)’s Mission
- Coordinate, receive, and guide visitors to TAF (AIC) to ensure that their objectives are met
- Create and maintain a positive relationship between TAF (AIC) and the public
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s degree preferably in Development Communications, Journalism and Media Relations.
- Training in Health Communication Public Relations and Web design
- Training in Advocacy and Lobbying
- Training in Graphics Design & Event Management
- Training in Brand Communication
- Training in Documentation &Media Planning
- Training in Strategic Planning and Creative thinking Required Experience and Skills
- At least four years of experience in Communications, Public relations, documentation or advocacy work
- Experience in Design/Publishing, IT Enabled Service, Media/Public Relations, Computer Hardware, and Event Management
- Previous experience in scientific writing, editing and publication
